WINDOWS 9x/ME - Configuring your network settings

• Double-click the My Computer icon
  
• Double-click the Control Panel icon
  
• Double-click the Network icon
  
• Select TCP/IP in "The following network components are installed" list. If more than one, pick the TCP/IP that refers to your Ethernet card
  (See Figure 1)
  
• Click the Properties button
  
• Click the IP Address Tab
  (See Figure 2)
  
• Select Obtain an IP address automatically
  
• Click on the DNS Configuration tab
  (See Figure 3)
  
• Select Disable DNS if not already selected
  
• Select the Gateway tab. Remove any installed gateway
  (See Figure 4)
  
• Click the Advanced tab and verify that the "Make this the default protocol" check box is checked
  
• Click OK
  
• Click OK on the next window
  
• Windows will then ask you if you want to reboot your machine. Answer yes and reboot.
